Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone With Makeup

So for the longest time I have avoided wearing red lipstick. Don’t get me wrong I know not every lipstick shade is made to suit everyone but I’ve always wanted to be able to pull off red lips. I always stick to nudes, dark purples, dark browns and pinks but never have had the ‘balls’ let’s say to wear red lipstick. I’ve always had in my mind that I just don’t suit it. I have blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin (when I’m not coated in fake tan) and have just always felt that the colour red will clash with my hair and eyes and just not suit my skin tone. But recently I decided I’d give it a go… what’s the worst that can happen?

So I decided there’s no better time than a night out to try out something new and daring. I wore the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in ‘Mysterious Red’, which I would describe as a classic red, but more so on the darker side and… I absolutely loved it!

I soon realised that if you feel confident wearing something (or at least pretend to be) then that confidence will show and other people will start feeling the same way about your new ‘out of your comfort zone‘ product. And if they don’t who cares, it’s not their face!

There was a time when I was too scared to even wear any lipstick at all, let alone a bold red lip, so I’m happy that I have come this far with trying out different makeup. After all, experimenting with makeup is one of the most fun things about it!
